Sui Reports 40.6M TPS in Offchain AI-Agent Test
Sui reported a peak of 40,614,180 transactions per second in an offchain test at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. More than 10,000 programmable tunnels handled payment, gaming and chat activity, exceeding the event’s 20 million TPS target and Sui’s previous offchain test of about 6.1 million TPS in July.
The figure reflects activity inside offchain channels, not transactions processed directly by the Sui mainnet. Each tunnel opens and closes onchain, while activity between those steps takes place offchain. Sui says the design aims to support frequent interactions between AI agents. CertiK observed the demonstration and is reviewing the test data; its report is pending. The result highlights Sui’s push into AI payments, but does not establish equivalent mainnet throughput or real-world demand.
Neutral
The test may support a positive narrative around Sui’s ability to serve AI-agent payments and other high-frequency applications. However, the reported 40.6 million TPS measures activity in offchain tunnels, not direct Sui mainnet throughput, and CertiK’s review is still pending. In the short term, the headline could attract attention to SUI, but traders may discount the figure until the test methodology and independent findings are available. Longer term, adoption of these channels could strengthen Sui’s utility if real applications and demand emerge. Until then, the test alone offers limited evidence of a lasting effect on SUI’s price or market stability.
