SUI Gains 54% as DeFi and Ecosystem News Lift Token
SUI rose approximately 54% over four weeks into early October 2026, outperforming Bitcoin and Ether during a broader market recovery. The advance coincided with ecosystem developments, including Bitwise’s launch of an institutional real-world-asset yield vault on Sui, Samsung Galaxy support for USDC with Sui capabilities, and a reported 40.6 million transactions-per-second result in an off-chain stress test at Sui’s Basecamp conference.
Sui DeFi total value locked increased 15.5% over four weeks, despite a 5.2% weekly decline, and reached about $1.21 billion on September 22. SUI traded around $1.12–$1.15 in early October, giving it a market capitalisation of roughly $4.6 billion. About 4.1 billion of its 10 billion maximum supply was circulating.
Despite the rally, SUI remained about 78% below its January 2025 all-time high of $5.35. Traders should also consider future token supply and the fact that TVL can fall with SUI’s price. The off-chain throughput result demonstrates capacity under test conditions, not sustained live-network activity.
Bullish
The news is bullish for SUI in the near term because the token’s 54% four-week rise coincided with measurable DeFi growth and several visibility-boosting announcements. Bitwise’s institutional RWA yield vault and Samsung Galaxy’s USDC integration could support interest in Sui’s ecosystem. The reported 40.6 million TPS test may also improve sentiment, although it was conducted off-chain and should not be treated as evidence of comparable live-network usage.
The rally can attract momentum traders and increase attention to SUI, but traders may also take profits after a rapid advance. The 5.2% weekly TVL decline is a cautionary signal, particularly because TVL can move with the token’s price rather than reflecting only new deposits or greater usage. SUI is also about 78% below its all-time high, while only around 41% of maximum supply is circulating; future token releases could add selling pressure. As in past altcoin rallies driven by product launches and ecosystem announcements, price gains may fade if adoption and on-chain activity do not follow through. Overall, the catalyst mix is positive, but its longer-term effect depends on sustained network usage, capital inflows and broader market conditions.
