Texas Interconnection Deadline Targets Crypto Mining, Data Centers

Texas energy regulators have set a mid-December “Texas interconnection deadline” for data center and crypto-mining projects to prove they are real and build-ready. The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and ERCOT require operators to submit evidence by December 10, 2026, including ownership records, site access permissions, purchase orders, and signed contracts. ERCOT’s interconnection queue has ballooned. By late 2025, it tracked about 226 GW of “large-load” requests (75 MW or more).
