Trueo Moves Prediction Markets From Base to Ethereum
Trueo is moving its primary prediction-market protocol from Base to Ethereum mainnet, reversing its March 2025 Base launch decision. The project now cites Ethereum’s deeper DeFi integration, network effects, liquidity potential and suitability for a permissionless, largely immutable protocol. Trueo’s Ethereum migration does not have a confirmed launch date, and Ethereum contract addresses have not yet been published.
Base markets will remain operational during the transition. Trading, settlement, resolution and redemption will continue, but users should not create new Base markets expiring after 31 January 2027. Markets expiring during 2026 can still launch on Base, while existing positions are expected to remain accessible through the official application.
The TRUE token will remain the protocol’s native asset and can be migrated to Ethereum without a deadline. Future staking and liquidity incentives are expected to move to Ethereum after deployment. TYD collateral will continue earning yield during the transition. Trueo also plans to attract liquidity to major market categories and introduce a new Ethereum oracle system for disputed outcomes. Vitalik Buterin welcomed the project’s decentralised and practical prediction-market focus.
For traders, the Trueo Ethereum migration could improve long-term liquidity, DeFi access and market visibility. In the short term, however, the lack of a launch date, pending contract details and the need to manage Base positions create operational uncertainty. DefiLlama currently attributes Trueo’s tracked TVL of about $796,126 and 30-day decentralised-exchange volume of about $9,728 to Base.
Neutral
The direct price impact on TRUE is likely neutral because the migration brings both potential benefits and near-term risks. In the short term, traders may welcome Ethereum’s deeper liquidity and broader DeFi integrations, but the absence of a launch date and Ethereum contract addresses limits immediate confidence. The continued operation of Base markets also reduces the risk of an abrupt liquidity shock, although users must manage expiry restrictions and cross-chain migration requirements.
Over the longer term, Ethereum deployment could improve TRUE’s visibility, staking demand and liquidity if the protocol attracts active market makers and users. A new oracle system could also strengthen settlement infrastructure. However, Trueo remains a relatively small protocol, with tracked TVL and trading volume concentrated on Base. The migration could therefore produce limited direct price effects unless it is followed by substantial liquidity growth, exchange support or increased market activity.
