TSMC Q3 Profit Surges 69% as AI Chip Demand Stays Strong
TSMC posted a sixth consecutive quarterly profit record in Q3 2026, with net profit rising 68.7% year over year to NT$763.1 billion, above analyst expectations. Revenue increased 50.9% to NT$1.494 trillion, or about $46.7 billion, as demand for AI chips remained extremely robust. High-performance computing made up 68% of revenue and grew 22% from the previous quarter; advanced technologies accounted for 79% of wafer revenue, while 2-nanometre chips rose to 8% of wafer revenue from 3% in Q2. TSMC’s CEO said he saw no sign of the AI trend slowing. The company forecasts Q4 revenue of $52.3 billion to $54.3 billion and 2026 revenue growth of about 44% in US dollar terms, while keeping capital expenditure guidance at $60 billion to $64 billion. Its total US manufacturing commitment has reached $265 billion, including an additional $100 billion for Arizona. TSMC shares nevertheless fell after the results. The company also flagged macroeconomic uncertainty and possible weakness in consumer-facing areas such as smartphones. For crypto traders, TSMC’s results signal continued AI investment and may inform broader technology-sector sentiment, but neither report points to a direct catalyst for cryptocurrency prices.
Neutral
The reports describe strong AI-related semiconductor demand, but they do not identify a direct link to any cryptocurrency or provide evidence of an immediate effect on digital-asset prices. In the short term, the results could shape broader risk sentiment, while TSMC’s post-results share decline and cautions about macroeconomic and smartphone-market weakness may temper optimism. Over the longer term, sustained AI investment could support technology-sector activity, but its effect on crypto prices would be indirect and depend on wider factors such as liquidity, interest rates, and crypto-specific developments. The direct price impact on cryptocurrencies is therefore neutral.
