WhiteBIT Adds Bitcoin Lightning Network Transfers
Crypto exchange WhiteBIT has added Bitcoin Lightning Network deposits and withdrawals, with infrastructure provider Voltage powering the service. Users can make BTC transfers using a QR code or payment details. WhiteBIT lists a 0.25% deposit fee and a 0.15% withdrawal fee. The exchange says the integration supports account funding, remittances and connections to Lightning-compatible wallets and apps. The Lightning Network processes payments off Bitcoin’s main blockchain, enabling faster transfers and potentially lower costs. WhiteBIT, ranked 17th by transaction volume on CoinGecko, joins exchanges including Coinbase and Kraken in supporting the network. The integration expands Bitcoin Lightning Network access, but does not by itself signal a change in BTC’s market direction.
Neutral
The integration adds another way for users to move BTC and may make transfers faster and potentially cheaper for Lightning-compatible payments. That could support convenience and adoption over time, but the stated fees, limited scope of the announcement and lack of evidence of a material change in demand mean the direct price effect is likely small. In the short term, traders may treat the launch as an infrastructure update rather than a price catalyst. Over the longer term, broader exchange and wallet support could improve Bitcoin’s payment utility, but BTC’s market direction will remain more dependent on factors such as overall demand, liquidity, macroeconomic conditions and wider market sentiment.
