WLFI Governance Plan Approved Ahead of October Launch
World Liberty Financial’s WLFI governance participation incentive plan has passed a Snapshot community vote and is expected to launch before 1 October 2026. The proposal won 82.13% support, with 9.17% opposed and 8.70% abstaining across 2,306 addresses. Voting power reached about 2.114 billion WLFI, above the 1 billion WLFI quorum requirement.
Under the WLFI governance incentive plan, holders must lock unlocked WLFI tokens for at least 180 days and directly participate in at least one governance vote every 90 days. Delegated votes will not qualify. Rewards will be calculated dynamically and may be funded by the treasury, World Liberty Markets fees and other ecosystem incentives. The WLFI governance incentive plan will replace an earlier proposal approved on 12 March 2026.
For traders, the lock-up requirement could reduce WLFI’s short-term circulating supply and support governance engagement. However, price effects will depend on reward levels, liquidity and potential selling when lock-ups expire. The plan may be supportive over the longer term but could increase volatility around token unlocks.
Neutral
The plan has mixed implications for WLFI’s price. In the short term, requiring eligible holders to lock tokens for at least 180 days could reduce circulating supply and improve governance participation, potentially supporting WLFI if demand remains stable. The strong vote result may also strengthen confidence in the project’s governance process.
However, the proposal does not guarantee a direct increase in token demand. Dynamically calculated rewards could attract participation, but their market impact will depend on the size and funding of the reward pool. Reduced liquidity may also amplify both upward and downward price moves. Over the longer term, tokens becoming available after the lock-up period could create additional selling pressure. Because the plan combines possible supply reduction with future unlock risk, its direct price impact on WLFI is best classified as neutral.
