Chainlink CCIP to Expand XGZ Gold Token Across Networks
GoldZip is integrating Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) with XGZ, a gold-backed token issued with support from the Hong Kong Gold Exchange. Announced with blockchain developer Midas Labs on 27 October 2026, the integration makes GoldZip a launch partner for CCIP 2.0 and is intended to let holders transfer XGZ across supported networks. XGZ currently runs on Ethereum, and each token represents one gram of 99.99% fine gold held in accredited vaults.
GoldZip’s website lists about 39,000 XGZ in circulation, corresponding to approximately 39 kilograms of gold. The company has set a $300 million target for its physical gold reserves; this is an expansion goal, not a confirmed reserve level. Independent audit reports are listed as forthcoming. Eligible holders can redeem physical gold from 1,000 XGZ, equivalent to one kilogram, subject to AML and KYC checks. XGZ trades on Uniswap and MEXC, with a reported market capitalisation of roughly $5 million in late October.
The CCIP integration could improve XGZ’s cross-chain access and broaden its potential user base, building on GoldZip and Midas Labs’ work on institutional digital-gold infrastructure. However, the announcement does not by itself demonstrate increased demand, liquidity or value. Traders will be watching deployment, adoption, reserve verification and liquidity across supported networks.
Neutral
The news is potentially constructive for XGZ because Chainlink CCIP could make the gold-backed token available across more blockchain networks, improving accessibility and creating opportunities for broader use. Such integrations can attract short-term attention and trading activity, but they do not guarantee sustained buying or higher prices. XGZ’s reported circulation and market capitalisation are small, so liquidity and price movements may remain sensitive to individual trades and listings.
Longer-term impact depends on whether the integration is deployed successfully and leads to meaningful adoption and deeper liquidity. Traders may also weigh the gap between GoldZip’s $300 million reserve target and its currently reported backing, as well as the fact that independent audits are still forthcoming. Until deployment, reserve verification and demand provide stronger evidence, the announcement alone does not establish a durable price catalyst; a neutral impact is therefore the most appropriate assessment.
