XRP Impact Hinges on Robinhood’s RLUSD Settlement
Ripple expanded its Robinhood partnership at Swell 2026, bringing RLUSD stablecoin settlement to Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, with the Robinhood app expected to follow later this year. Moody’s also assigned RLUSD an A2 long-term and P-1 short-term rating, citing reserve coverage, liquidity and redemption arrangements. The ratings apply to RLUSD issued by Ripple subsidiary Standard Custody & Trust on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.
As of October 28, RLUSD supply totaled about $2.58 billion: 981.99 million on the XRP Ledger and 1.598 billion on Ethereum. XRP Ledger’s 38% share has changed little since late August. XRP could benefit if Robinhood settlement increases RLUSD activity on the ledger, where transactions use XRP for fees and reserves; the deal’s volumes have not been disclosed.
XRP was trading near $1.33, but remained below its 50-day and 200-day EMAs at $1.3602 and $1.3708. A daily close above $1.3708 could put $1.3992 in focus, while a break below $1.2546 may expose support near $1.20. The first sign of a meaningful XRP impact will be whether RLUSD supply on the XRP Ledger rises.
Neutral
The news is positive for RLUSD’s credibility and potential distribution, but its direct effect on XRP remains conditional. Moody’s A2 and P-1 ratings may make institutions more comfortable using RLUSD, while Robinhood’s reach could broaden access. However, the companies disclosed no settlement volumes, and most RLUSD supply currently sits on Ethereum. XRP Ledger’s share is 38% and has barely changed since late August, so the announcement has not yet translated into visible growth in on-ledger stablecoin activity.
For XRP traders, the key distinction is where transactions settle. XRP is used for fees and reserves on the XRP Ledger, but Ethereum-based RLUSD activity does not create the same direct demand. XRP’s price near $1.33 also remains below its 50-day and 200-day EMAs around $1.36–$1.37, indicating that the market has not confirmed a bullish breakout. A sustained move above those averages could improve short-term sentiment; failure to clear them leaves XRP vulnerable to continued range trading, with $1.2546 support in focus.
Similar institutional adoption and partnership announcements in crypto have often produced an initial sentiment boost, but lasting price effects typically depend on measurable usage, liquidity and resulting token demand. In the short term, traders may watch RLUSD supply on the XRP Ledger and XRP’s reaction at the EMA resistance zone. Over the longer term, rising settlement volumes could support XRP utility and market confidence, but the current evidence is insufficient to treat that outcome as established. The overall impact is therefore neutral pending adoption data.
