XRP Ledger AI Payments Top 14.5M, Settlement Value Stays Low
The XRP Ledger has recorded 14,547,668 AI-agent transactions through the x402 payment protocol, up from about 13.49 million in an earlier tracker update. The latest figures, dated 19 October 2026, show 173 merchants and cumulative settlements of 7,010.24 XRP and 16,509.25 RLUSD, worth about $33,506. The XRP Ledger’s transaction count has risen from roughly 1 million in July to more than 10 million by early October, with some days topping 600,000 transactions. However, activity is concentrated: Heurist Inference Router processed close to 10 million transactions in mid-October. RippleX engineering head J. Ayo Akinyele previously estimated that AI-agent payments made up about 25% of ledger activity and said 100 million transactions could arrive sooner than expected, without giving a timeline. The XRPL AI Starter Kit, launched in June 2026, helps developers build agents that transact on the ledger. Payment facilitator t54.ai raised a $5 million seed round backed by Ripple and Franklin Templeton; Visa and Mastercard are also collaborating on x402. For XRP traders, the growth points to expanding technical use of the XRP Ledger for frequent, low-value AI payments, but transaction counts have not yet translated into substantial settlement value. Merchant growth, settlement totals and reduced reliance on a single service will be important indicators of whether this activity creates meaningful demand for XRP.
Neutral
The news is neutral for XRP because it highlights rising use of the XRP Ledger but provides limited evidence of corresponding economic demand for the token. More than 14.5 million transactions and a growing merchant count could improve sentiment around the network’s utility. However, the reported cumulative settlement value is about $33,506, a small amount relative to the transaction count, and activity is concentrated in one service. The figures therefore do not establish that the growth is generating meaningful XRP buying pressure. In the short term, traders may react to the headline transaction milestones, but price effects are likely to be limited unless trading volume, settlement value or broader market conditions reinforce the signal. Over the longer term, sustained merchant growth, higher settlement totals and more diversified activity could strengthen the case for network adoption and support XRP sentiment. If transaction counts continue rising without comparable value or broader participation, the market may treat them as a usage metric rather than a catalyst for XRP’s price. This assessment concerns XRP’s price impact, not the separate value or adoption of RLUSD.
