RLUSD Drives XRPL Stablecoin Growth, but XRP Demand Is Unclear
XRPL stablecoin supply rose 25.2% in Q3 2026 to a record $1.03 billion, while transfer volume climbed 39.5% to $14.09 billion, according to Blockworks Research. RLUSD drove most of the increase: its XRPL supply grew 49.7% to $1.01 billion, representing 98.1% of the ledger’s stablecoin liquidity. RLUSD is also expanding across blockchains, and Ethereum briefly held more of its supply than XRPL during the quarter.
The growth points to rising XRPL stablecoin liquidity and activity, including potential uses such as invoice financing. Robinhood and C2FO expansion plans, along with a proposed XRPL lending protocol, could support adoption, but their effects remain uncertain. XRP ETPs also recorded $355.3 million in quarterly net inflows, lifting assets under management to $3.32 billion.
Still, increased XRPL stablecoin use does not necessarily mean stronger XRP buying. XRP is required for network fees and account reserves, but RLUSD users do not need to hold large XRP balances. The figures are a positive infrastructure signal, while the direct impact on XRP demand remains unclear.
Neutral
In the short term, record XRPL stablecoin supply and transfer volume may improve sentiment around the ledger and draw attention to XRP-related activity. The $355.3 million in quarterly XRP ETP inflows is a separate supportive market signal, but the summaries do not establish that it was caused by stablecoin growth. Since RLUSD is dollar-pegged and users generally need only limited XRP for fees and reserves, the increase in stablecoin liquidity does not directly translate into meaningful XRP buying pressure. Traders may therefore treat the data as evidence of network growth rather than a clear price catalyst.
Over the longer term, RLUSD’s expansion, potential financial uses such as invoice financing, and a proposed XRPL lending protocol could strengthen ecosystem utility if adoption develops. However, Robinhood and C2FO plans and the proposed protocol are not proof of sustained demand. The brief period when Ethereum held more RLUSD than XRPL also shows that supply can shift between networks. Overall, the indicators support a neutral XRP price view: stronger infrastructure and ETP inflows are constructive, but a lasting bullish effect would require evidence that activity translates into greater XRP demand.
