Zama Launches Confidential RFQ Swaps on Ethereum
Zama launched its Confidential RFQ swap protocol on Ethereum mainnet in private beta on 23 July. The protocol enables encrypted trading against confidential USDC (cUSDC), while hiding order size, direction and price limits from public on-chain data. Whitelisted market makers compete in a blind auction to fill requests for quote.
The Confidential RFQ currently supports cUSDT/cUSDC, cZAMA/cUSDC and csteakUSDC/cUSDC pairs. Zama said swap fees will be used to buy back and burn ZAMA tokens. Access remains limited during the private beta, which may restrict near-term liquidity and trading volume.
The launch builds on Zama’s Confidential USDC Prime vault, curated by Steakhouse Financial and deployed through Morpho. The vault mirrors Steakhouse’s existing USDC Prime strategy, including its collateral, markets and risk parameters, while encrypting deposit sizes, positions and transaction timing. Morpho reported that the confidential vault had exceeded $40 million in deposits by September 2026. Deposits are batched every 24 hours before being supplied to the Morpho vault.
The development expands Zama’s Ethereum privacy ecosystem from confidential DeFi lending access to encrypted swaps. It may support long-term demand for ZAMA and cUSDC, although adoption, market-maker participation and regulatory considerations remain key risks.
