ChangeNOW TOKEN2049 Highlights Crypto Super Apps and Usability

At TOKEN2049 Singapore, ChangeNOW hosted four panel discussions, a series of NOW Effect interviews and a keynote by Chief Strategy Officer Pauline Shangett. The sessions brought together speakers from MetaMask, Trezor, WalletConnect and other crypto projects to discuss crypto super apps, wallet security, transaction infrastructure, privacy and AI’s role in media and search. Shangett argued that mainstream users should be able to use crypto without managing networks or gas fees, and described super apps as a way to combine financial services in one product. Panelists also debated whether payments, trading or broader services could drive regular use. ChangeNOW TOKEN2049 coverage included discussions of cross-border payments, DeFi, stablecoins and blockchain usability. The event content is due to be released in recorded form.

Trader Adds $7.96M to SILVER Short as Profits Near $195M

An on-chain address with reported cumulative profits of about $195 million has added roughly $7.96 million to its SILVER short position. The new position was opened at an average price of about $52.7033, according to Odaily monitoring. The report does not specify the trader’s total SILVER exposure or whether the position is currently profitable. The move signals a bearish stance on SILVER from one large trader, but does not by itself establish a broader market trend.

Hyperliquid TWAP Orders to Pause at Price Limits

Hyperliquid will change how TWAP orders with stop prices work in its next network upgrade, according to Jeff. Instead of cancelling the remaining schedule when the market crosses a set price boundary, a Hyperliquid TWAP order will pause. It can resume if the price returns to the permitted range before the original execution window ends; otherwise, traders will need to place a new order. Hyperliquid’s TWAP tool splits large orders into smaller trades executed over time. It currently supports schedules from five minutes to seven days, with a minimum order size of $100. For example, a two-hour HYPE buy order with an $80 upper limit will pause if the mark price rises to $81, then resume if it falls to $79 within the two-hour window. The same rule applies to sell orders with a minimum price.

Trader Opens $45.34M 25x Leveraged ETH Long

Lookonchain reported that a trader with a 100% win rate opened a 25x leveraged long position of 19,491 ETH, worth about $45.34 million. The position was showing an unrealised profit of $315,000 at the time of the report. The trader has won all five completed trades, with cumulative profits of $4.6 million. The ETH long is a single trader’s position, not evidence of broad market demand; its high leverage also increases the risk of liquidation if ETH prices fall.

Rising Yields and a Strong Dollar May Pressure Crypto

Knox Ridley argues that US economic growth remains above trend even as inflation has exceeded the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. He says rising bond yields signal that markets see Fed policy as too accommodative, while the US Dollar Index has broken above resistance near 101.8 after months of consolidation. The article also maintains that stocks could continue rising for months or years, with artificial intelligence expected to lead the gains. It does not discuss cryptocurrencies directly, but higher yields and a stronger dollar could weigh on crypto prices by reducing demand for risk assets. Crypto traders will be watching Treasury yields, the dollar and Fed signals for clues about market liquidity and risk appetite.

Anthropic Profitability Improves as Future Costs Rise

Anthropic says it recorded an operating profit in its most recent quarter, while improving revenue efficiency. The company’s expenses declined as a share of revenue, and compute costs—the largest expense—fell from more than 250% of revenue to 48% on a quarterly basis. Anthropic is also catching up with OpenAI in computing capacity, but that expansion brings substantial future cost commitments. Aswath Damodaran highlights three risks: high operating leverage, contractual spending obligations and dependence on continued growth to meet those obligations. Anthropic’s improving margins are a positive sign, but the company’s financial outlook remains sensitive to growth and spending. Anthropic and OpenAI’s competition for AI computing capacity may also keep investment costs high.

Gate and Komainu Expand Secure Trading Across Nine Exchanges

Gate and Komainu have expanded their institutional partnership, combining Komainu’s regulated custody with Gate’s CrossEx platform for trading across nine exchanges: Gate, Binance, Bybit, OKX, Deribit, Kraken, Hyperliquid, Lighter and Aster. The Gate-Komainu integration lets institutions use a shared margin pool without transferring assets to each exchange, while assets remain in segregated custody with Komainu through its Off-Exchange Settlement service. CrossEx offers a unified API and account-level margin and risk management. The firms say the service supports spot, margin and USDT-margined perpetual trading across more than 12,600 pairs, with cross-exchange transfers for 15 assets. The partnership aims to reduce capital fragmentation and operational overhead for institutional traders, including funds and market makers. Further venue integrations are planned.

WTI Oil Triangle Puts Bitcoin Traders on Alert

WTI crude oil is approaching a breakout after weeks of narrowing price swings, forming a converging triangle between about $93 and $105.50 a barrel. A move above $105.50 could bring the March and April highs of $117–$119 into focus. A drop below $93 would signal a break in the recent bullish structure. The article says oil has risen about 80% this year amid Middle East supply risks, while Iranian budget planning reportedly assumes oil at $130 a barrel. For Bitcoin, the direction of the oil breakout matters. Higher oil prices could fuel inflation, keep bond yields elevated and limit expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts, weighing on risk assets. Since the conflict began, Bitcoin’s 30-day correlation with oil has turned negative, at -0.47, while its correlation with the Nasdaq 100 is 0.64. Bitcoin was trading near $79,890 at the time of writing. A break below $93 could ease inflation concerns and support risk assets, including Bitcoin. Traders are watching the WTI breakout, US Treasury yields and the Nasdaq for signals. The triangle does not predict direction, so the near-term Bitcoin outlook remains conditional.

Tokenized US Stocks Face Pushback as Objections Rise to 33

Resistance to tokenized US stocks has grown since 22 companies were initially reported to have objected to OKXICE’s planned service. The later update put the number at 33 issuers, representing about $17 trillion in combined market value. OKXICE, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, plans to offer around 63 US stocks on OKX’s X Layer network under an SEC innovation exemption. The framework gives companies 30 days to object to third-party tokens of their shares. Issuers have raised concerns about investor confusion, share prices, liquidity, volatility, transparency and market oversight. OKXICE co-chair Andrew Cuomo said a cautious response was expected and that companies can opt out. The objections do not rule out tokenized stocks altogether, but they add uncertainty to third-party offerings and the wider tokenization sector. A separate model is advancing through established financial infrastructure. On 28 October, the Depository Trust Company, part of DTCC, launched a service covering 34 securities, backed one-to-one by assets held in its existing custody system; 20 financial institutions have signed up. The competing approaches—third-party tokenized stock platforms and services integrated with traditional securities infrastructure—could shape regulation and adoption. For crypto traders, the immediate effects are likely to be concentrated in digital-asset tokenization rather than broad market prices.

HTX Token Burn Grows as Exchange Expands TradFi and Web3

HTX DAO permanently burned 9.386 trillion HTX tokens on 15 October 2026, worth about $15.48 million. The HTX token burn was 25.6% larger than the previous quarter, bringing cumulative burns and donations to about 127.18 trillion HTX, valued at roughly $235 million. Under its stated mechanism, Huobi HTX allocates 50% of quarterly revenue to HTX buybacks and burns, linking supply reductions to exchange performance. The latest update also highlights HTX’s expansion beyond crypto spot and derivatives trading. Its TradFi products recorded nearly $6 billion in cumulative volume by mid-October, including $4.1 billion in the third quarter. The platform has added stock- and index-linked contracts and expanded savings and lending products. HTX token utility includes fee discounts, membership benefits, rewards, and DAO staking and governance. HTX DAO has also launched the Genesis ecosystem programme, backed by a fund valued at $10 million in HTX tokens, to support developers and Web3 projects. These initiatives could broaden revenue sources and token demand, but their effect depends on adoption, continued business growth, and regulatory progress. The HTX token burn is a supply-side signal, not a guarantee of price gains.

Uniswap Activity Hits Yearly High as UNI Nears $7.50

Uniswap’s network activity has surged alongside UNI’s price recovery. Santiment recorded 14,591 daily active addresses, a one-year high, and 13,137 new addresses—the biggest growth spike since September 2020. Recent Uniswap v4 upgrades include VolatilePair Hooks, which adjust swap fees to market conditions, and Aggregator Hooks, which connect external liquidity sources such as Curve, Fluid and PancakeSwap. Fees from trades routed through these sources contribute to UNI burns. Unichain is also scheduled to receive its OP Enterprise upgrade on October 29. UNI is trading near $7. Santiment identifies $7 as support and $7.50 as the next level to watch; holding support alongside strong activity could help the token move towards $8. Uniswap has generated more than $6 billion in cumulative protocol fees, including nearly $89 million over the past 30 days. Analyst Defi Rocketeer sees a possible retest of $10–$12 if the wider crypto market stabilizes, with $19–$20 as a potential resistance zone after a clean breakout.

XRP Falls Below $1.30 as Bearish Signals Persist

XRP traded near $1.29 on Thursday, falling below the closely watched $1.30 support as bearish selling pressure persisted. The move followed the Federal Reserve’s decision to hold interest rates at 3.75%–4.00%; inflation concerns and a cautious, hawkish tone weighed on risk appetite. CoinGlass data put XRP’s long-to-short ratio at 0.82, indicating that short positions outweighed longs in the tracked data. Its funding rate remained positive at 0.0036%, showing that longs were still paying shorts for leveraged exposure—a mixed derivatives signal. CryptoQuant indicators also showed selling dominance in XRP spot and futures markets, alongside large whale orders. XRP’s daily Relative Strength Index was 40, below the neutral 50 level, while the MACD had edged into positive territory. The token remains below key moving averages. Resistance sits near $1.333, $1.357 and $1.372; reclaiming this range could improve the near-term outlook. A daily close below $1.30 would increase the risk of further losses. XLM markets also showed seller dominance, with its rebound yet to attract sustained demand.

Tether’s Bitcoin Mining Kit Wins 15 Commitments

Tether says 15 mining companies, ASIC manufacturers and mining pools have committed to build and maintain integrations for its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK). Participants include Bitdeer, BITMAIN, Canaan, MicroBT, Foundry Digital, F2Pool, Luxor Technology, OCEAN, Proto and Stratum V2. Each participant is expected to create an MDK Worker, a software bridge connecting its systems to the shared interface. Tether aims for the Bitcoin mining kit to let applications and AI agents monitor, troubleshoot and optimize equipment across providers, with eventual infrastructure control also planned. The integrations are commitments, not completed deployments, so MDK’s practical reach will depend on delivery and ongoing maintenance. Tether targeted MDK version 0.11 for the October 23–24 Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano and a stable 1.0 release by the end of 2026. The company said its QVAC mining agent is already operating on MDK.

Bithumb Data Breach Exposes Information of 6,444 Users

Bithumb said an unauthorised person accessed its internal Daou Office mobile-work system on 27 October, exposing information linked to 6,444 users and 715 employees and business partners. The exchange said 5,600 users’ records were encrypted and unreadable, while information concerning 844 users was readable. The exposed data may include names, phone numbers, email addresses, resident registration and driver’s licence numbers, bank account details, and identity-document copies. Bithumb said the system is separate from its trading and customer-account databases and that it has found no direct intrusion into those systems. It has blocked access, disabled the affected system, reported the incident, and increased real-time monitoring of unusual trades and withdrawals. The Bithumb data breach raises privacy and account-security concerns, but the company has not reported a direct impact on customer assets or trading operations.

kPEPE Trader Reports 80% Win Rate Across 30 Trades

An address recorded an 80% win rate across 30 kPEPE trades between 15 and 29 October 2026, according to Odaily monitoring. On 29 October, it opened and closed both long and short positions: a long position of about $180,000 and a short position of roughly $1.96 million. The reported closing amounts were about $180,000 for the long and $1.94 million for the short. The figures describe one trader’s activity and do not establish a broader market trend. kPEPE’s short-term price impact is therefore uncertain, and the reported win rate does not guarantee future performance.

Bitcoin Falls Below $80,000 as Fed Concerns Offset ETF Inflows

Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000 after the Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate at 3.75%–4.00%. The 10–2 vote included Lisa Cook and Beth Hammack dissenting in favour of a 0.25 percentage-point rate increase, keeping borrowing-cost concerns in focus. Bitcoin touched $79,607 before recovering to around $80,137, then was reported at about $79,811, down 1.5%. Weakness in technology stocks, including a sharp fall in Samsung shares, added to risk-off sentiment. The price decline came despite US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracting about $423.6 million in net inflows over three sessions from October 26 to 28, led by BlackRock’s IBIT. The inflows partly reversed earlier withdrawals but have not yet produced sustained price strength. Derivatives pressure remained significant: crypto futures liquidations reached about $367 million over 24 hours, including roughly $211 million in liquidated longs, while more than $69 million in Bitcoin positions were liquidated, mostly longs. Traders are watching support around $79,600–$80,000. A break below could put $78,000 and then $75,000–$76,000 in focus; reclaiming $82,000 may improve short-term momentum, with resistance around $84,000–$85,000. The US Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation report and further Fed comments may shape rate expectations. On-chain activity also offered little support: Santiment said weekday average transactions and active addresses from October 14 to 27 were below their July–September averages. The combination of hawkish Fed signals, subdued network activity and liquidations tempers the positive signal from Bitcoin ETF inflows.

Alphabet Earnings: AI Growth Faces Ad Slowdown and Cash-Flow Pressure

Alphabet shares fell more than 10% after its third-quarter results showed slower-than-expected advertising growth and sharply negative free cash flow, renewing concerns about the cost of its AI expansion. Revenue was $127.6 billion, up 25% year on year, while search and other advertising revenue rose 12% to $63.3 billion, below expectations. Alphabet reported free cash flow of negative $9.1 billion; the article says this figure would be about negative $3.9 billion excluding a one-off $5.2 billion EU fine payment. The article argues that the results also show growth in Alphabet’s AI businesses. Google Cloud revenue surged 103% to $30.7 billion, and its operating margin reached a record 36.2%. Cloud backlog rose to $561 billion, with more than 55% expected to be recognized as revenue within 24 months. Management also warned that higher infrastructure spending will pressure near-term cash flow and that capital expenditure is expected to increase significantly in 2027. Alphabet says AI search queries are growing, but AI search currently monetizes less effectively than traditional search. The article frames this as a transition risk: the company may be prioritizing user experience before expanding advertising. It also highlights enterprise AI adoption, TPU chip sales and Gemini model usage as potential longer-term growth drivers, while noting that orders and usage do not yet guarantee profits. For traders, the key tension is between slowing search-ad growth and heavy AI investment, and the potential for cloud and AI demand to deliver future revenue.

Bitwise Raises Bitcoin’s 2036 Price Target to $1.6 Million

Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan says the firm has raised its 10-year Bitcoin price target from $1.3 million to $1.6 million, implying a projected annualised return of 34.3%. The forecast uses the same model as last year, with updated market data. Bitwise attributes the increase to a larger potential market. Its estimate for the value-storage market over the next decade rose from $91 trillion to $110 trillion, while the projected institutional investment market grew from $216 trillion to $303 trillion. The firm kept its assumptions about Bitcoin’s share of these markets unchanged. Hougan points to continued activity by wealth-management firms, central banks and sovereign wealth funds, as well as a narrowing in Bitcoin’s historical volatility. He also notes that Bitcoin’s share of the store-of-value market has grown from less than 1% a decade ago to more than 5% today. The outlook faces risks: gold has attracted more value-storage inflows, Bitcoin remains prone to sharp drawdowns, and spot ETF inflows have slowed. Bitwise argues that institutions continued buying during the downturn and that the latest reported decline was milder than in some earlier bear markets. The $1.6 million figure is a long-term forecast, not a guaranteed outcome.

HTX Reports $4.1B in Q3 TradFi Volume and Token Burn

HTX reported $4.1 billion in TradFi trading volume in Q3 2026, bringing cumulative volume close to $6 billion. The exchange added 183 futures assets, including 154 stock and index products, and said it now offers 278 stock-related trading assets. The figures underline HTX’s expansion into traditional markets, but are company-reported and do not establish broader crypto-market demand. HTX also said anniversary campaigns drew 45,000 Trading Championship registrations and generated $6.8 billion in futures volume. Fourteen spot campaigns attracted more than 46,000 registrations and over $500 million in volume. Nearly 500,000 users participated in HTX Earn, with subscriptions approaching 1 billion USDT. The company also reported progress on regulatory applications in Dubai and Pakistan. A later update said HTX’s Q3 burn reached 9.39 trillion HTX tokens, up 25.6% from Q2, under a policy directing 50% of platform revenue to buybacks and burns. HTX DAO had previously scheduled the Q3 burn for October 15; its Q2 burn was valued at more than $13.6 million. The burn may support HTX token scarcity, while trading campaigns and expanded TradFi products alone do not demonstrate sustained demand or a change in overall crypto-market conditions.

Bitcoin Core Patches Three AI-Detected Vulnerabilities

Bitcoin Core disclosed three security vulnerabilities on Oct. 28, after fixes had been released in versions 29.5, 30.4, 31.2 and 32.1. Project Loupe, an automated scanner led by Spiral’s Elias Rohrer, found the bugs with AI-assisted code scanning; developer Gregory Sanders verified them. The AI model used was not identified. Two flaws were rated medium severity. One could allow a malicious peer to crash nodes running Windows, macOS or BSD; Linux nodes are not affected. Another could gradually increase memory use by up to 2MB per hour for each inbound peer or 5MB per hour for each outbound peer. A third, low-severity bug could corrupt blockchain undo files and shut down a node in certain conditions, with greater practical risk on Windows and 32-bit systems. The earlier advisory also noted limitations involving 32-bit systems and FAT32 drives. The advisories did not say whether any flaw had been exploited. The bugs were not reported to enable bitcoin theft, but an unpatched node could disrupt transaction validation or relay. Bitcoin Core’s updated disclosure policy permits prompt publication of vulnerabilities considered easy to rediscover, including those detectable with a simple LLM prompt. The project plans to disclose three more medium- and high-severity vulnerabilities in about two weeks. Node operators and businesses should consult the official advisories and upgrade. The disclosures raise operational security concerns, but do not indicate a direct change to bitcoin’s supply or protocol rules.

Prediction Markets Surge as Kalshi Sets October Records

Prediction markets expanded sharply ahead of the US midterm elections. Kalshi and Polymarket recorded a combined $53 billion in trading volume in July, more than double May’s $26 billion, with sports markets accounting for most activity. Political markets were smaller: Polymarket averaged about $2 billion in monthly political volume this year, compared with less than $300 million for Kalshi. By July, House and Senate control contracts had attracted more than $30 million in trading. The latest figures show further growth in October. Kalshi reported about $65 billion in volume, 10% above its September record, while Polymarket US reached $10 billion, up roughly 15% from its previous monthly high. Open interest also set records at $2.05 billion for Kalshi and $384 million for Polymarket US. Kalshi represented nearly 83% of combined volume across Kalshi and the two Polymarket platforms, while US-regulated venues accounted for 95.6% of activity in that comparison. Robinhood’s prediction-market business generated $173 million in third-quarter revenue, more than its $120 million in crypto-trading revenue. Regulatory and product developments have supported the sector’s expansion: the CFTC withdrew a proposal that could have classified election contracts as gambling and later proposed a framework that would not automatically treat them that way. Kalshi also launched a Midterms Hub showing market-implied probabilities alongside polling averages. Sports remain a major source of activity, and the midterms will test demand for political contracts. For crypto traders, the rise of prediction markets is notable, but it does not demonstrate a shift away from crypto spot trading or signal a direct effect on cryptocurrency prices.

Bitcoin ETFs: Institutional Selling Meets Long-Term Buying

Bitcoin ETF ownership is shifting, rather than showing a broad institutional retreat. SEC filings show reporting institutions held about 355,000 BTC-equivalent in spot Bitcoin ETFs in September 2025, falling to roughly 307,000 BTC by June 2026—a net decline of 48,000 BTC, or 14%. Nine firms, including Millennium Management, Goldman Sachs, Brevan Howard and Tudor Investment, cut holdings by a combined 68,000 BTC. Galaxy Research says weaker cash-and-carry returns explain much of the selling. The annualised Bitcoin futures premium fell from 7.9% before the October 2025 price peak to 4.8% in the 30 days ending October 21, 2026, making the strategy less attractive. CME data also showed asset managers’ net long positions and leveraged funds’ net short positions each declined by about 57%. Other reporting institutions collectively added about 20,000 BTC. Buyers included Morgan Stanley’s wealth management business, Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council. Galaxy also found that Bitcoin ETF holdings fell about 11% from the October 2025 price peak to the July 2026 trough, while Bitcoin’s price dropped around 53%. Funds subsequently added roughly 87,000 BTC from the June low, though the 13F data do not capture more recent, volatile ETF flows. For traders, the figures suggest strategy-driven selling has coincided with continued demand from wealth managers and sovereign investors. Bitcoin ETF flows and futures premiums remain important indicators to watch; the next institutional filings may show whether the ownership shift continues.

LME Explores Tokenising Hong Kong Metal Inventories

The London Metal Exchange (LME) is exploring metal inventory tokenization in Hong Kong, focusing on metal held in approved warehouses without an issued LME warrant. Digital tokens representing these stocks could be used as collateral for loans, potentially opening financing channels for physical commodities that are not covered by active warrants. The proposal is at an early stage, and the LME plans to discuss it with industry participants at a closed-door roundtable in early November. The initiative forms part of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing’s broader push to develop commodity trading and blockchain-based collateral services. HKEX is targeting a 2027 pilot for tokenized warehouse-receipt financing with designated banks, and is also testing carbon-credit tokenization for near-real-time settlement. Hong Kong joined the LME’s approved delivery network in 2025 and has since reported more than 60,000 square metres of warehouse space and over 20,000 tonnes of inventory. Metal inventory tokenization has not yet been implemented, and its safeguards and adoption remain uncertain. The proposal is separate from tokenized gold products such as XGZ, PAXG and XAUT.

Wendy’s Buyout Offer Sends Shares Up 15%

Wendy’s shares rose more than 15% after Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management and partners submitted a $1.4 billion, non-binding offer to take the fast-food chain private. The proposal values Wendy’s at $7.35 per share in cash, about 20% above its Oct. 27 closing price. Trian and affiliates already control about 16.3% of the company’s outstanding shares. Wendy’s board has appointed an independent committee to review the unsolicited offer; no deal has been agreed. The bid comes as the company faces declining comparable sales, higher operating costs and stronger competition. Wendy’s has also announced plans to close as many as 358 locations in 2026 and reported approximately $2.7 billion in long-term debt as of June. Investors are watching for further deal developments and Wendy’s third-quarter earnings, due Nov. 5. The $7.35 offer provides a potential valuation benchmark, but the non-binding proposal leaves the outcome uncertain.

Strategy Pauses Bitcoin Buying, Repurchases $205M in STRC

Strategy made no Bitcoin purchases or sales in the week ended October 25, ending a five-week buying streak. Its Bitcoin holdings remained at 848,517 BTC, acquired for $64.02 billion at an average price of about $75,446 per coin. The company also made no sales through its at-the-market share programme. Instead, Strategy used $204.9 million in USD Cash to repurchase 2,068,459 STRC preferred shares. As of October 25, it held $242.4 million in USD Cash and a separate $4.83 billion reserve for preferred dividends and debt interest; $956.8 million remained under its STRC repurchase authorisation. The filing did not explain the Bitcoin buying pause or say when purchases might resume. The shift in capital allocation is relevant to Bitcoin traders, but does not alone signal a change in Strategy’s longer-term Bitcoin strategy.
